Ageia Technologies, Inc., provider of both hardware and software-based physics solutions for video games, has announced that it will develop physics-based middleware using technologies based on Ageia’s NovodeX physics software for the PlayStation 3 development environment. Ageia’s NovodeX physics software is designed with a multithreaded architecture, making it particularly suitable for next-generation games. "We’re proud to offer Ageia’s physics technology to help developers create compelling content for PlayStation 3", said Andy Keane, vice president of marketing for Algeia. In addition to this announcement, Ageia announced deals with Ubisoft to use Ageia physics for Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon 3 for next-generation consoles, agreements with Shiny Entertainment and Spark Unlimited to use both hardware (on PC, where Ageia's PhysX PPU will be available this year) and software variants of Ageia's middleware, and an agreement with Cryptic Studios to use the NovodeX physics engine for the MMO expansion City of Villains.
