AEGF, a partnership between Abandon Entertainment and GF Capital Management & Advisors and a recent investor into MMO firm Mythic Entertainment, has announced the acquisition of console, handheld and mobile developer Lucky Chicken Games of Santa Monica, Calif for a unspecified sum. Lucky Chicken, which was formed in 1998 and is comprised of former employees from studios including Core Design, Eidos, Rare Ltd, Midway and THQ, is the developer of console and handheld titles including Tyco RC: Assault With A Battery, Tonka: Rescue Patrol, and NHRA 2005 Championship Drag Racing, and the studio will continue to create games for other game publishers and platforms, but, in the main thrust of the acquisition, also make mobile games specifically for AEGF's customers, including NBC Sports. The announcement was made by AEGF's CEO, Marcus Ticotin and Lucky Chicken's CEO, Jamie Ottilie, who will now serve as AEGF's COO. Marcus Ticotin commented: "The Lucky Chicken team has impressed us with their efficiencies, creativity, and ability to take popular licenses and turn them into great games." As well as its interests in Mythic and now Lucky Chicken, AEGF partner Abandon has also founded Collision Entertainment with producer Scott Faye, a film development company whose upcoming projects include game adaptation Max Payne, to be turned into a film at Fox.
