Activision Pushes Singularity To March 2010

Activision is delaying the planned Fall release of Raven's Singularity into March 2010, apparently to avoid burying the new IP and due to high anticipation for November's Modern Warfare 2, according to the firm.
Activision says the knell of anticipation for Modern Warfare 2's November 2009 launch is much louder than predicted -- and it fears Raven's Singularity might get drowned out. That's why the publisher is moving Singularity's planned Fall 2009 release into March 2010, it claims in a newly released official statement. Though it's unclear whether the game's state of readiness would allow it to launch this year, the move allows Singularity, a Russian-set FPS title with some unique time manipulation gameplay effects, to avoid the holiday avalanche, too. "The level of excitement for Infinity Ward's Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven's upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010," Activision told Shacknews in a statement. "We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a 'must-have' title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season," the company added.
