Activision has announced that peripherals manufacturer Logitech will collaborate with the publisher to bring 'premium' instruments to its forthcoming full-band
Guitar Hero World Tour, coming later this year to PS2, PS3, Xbox 360, and the Wii.
No details have yet been given on precisely what the two companies have planned for the instruments, other than to say the upgraded versions will appear in 2008 and that it will "allow players to elevate their
Guitar Hero jam sessions to full-fledged rock concerts."
By contrast, MTV Games and Harmonix
announced in July that it would make
Rock Band 2 the "first music game to officially support an open platform" with accessories coming from a number of third-party partners, including ION’s high-end Ion Drum Rocker and Mad Catz’s Fender Telecaster Controller, Fender Bass Controller, Full-sized Squire Stratocaster Guitar Controller, and Cymbal Expansion Pack.
Said RedOctane's business development VP Charles Huang, "Logitech is the leading producer of peripheral devices and the company is widely considered to be the gold standard for innovation and quality peripheral products. With Logitech, we know we have found the right partner who can deliver top-quality premium hardware that consumers have come to expect from
Guitar Hero."
