Abertay Dundee Hosts Software Freedom Day Event

This Saturday, the University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland will host an event raising awareness for the benefits and importance of using free and open-source software.
This Saturday, the University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland will host an event raising awareness for Software Freedom Day. The day serves to highlight the benefits and importance of using free and open-source software in education, government, and business settings, as well as in the home. Talks scheduled for the event will cover open-source software for Windows, free applications for students, and open-source solutions for businesses. Speeches scheduled in the latter half of the day's offerings will explore open-source game building, VoIP software, and security issues faced by open-source developers. Speakers for this year's event include University of Abertay Dundee Linux Society outgoing president Arron Finnon and free software advocates Robert Ladyman, Rick Moynihan, and Hazel McKendrick. Abertay Dundee's Software Freedom Day event will begin at 10:00 AM in the Hannah Maclure Center, and will conclude at 5:00 PM. Admission is free for the general public.
