Genemation, the Manchester based technology start-up, headed by ex Psygnosis & Sony PlayStation Europe senior executive, John Bickley, will launch two upgraded "face synthesis" tools, based on its patented "computer vision" technology, at the upcoming Game Developers Conference in San Francisco, March 7-11th.
Genemation’s tools are primarily aimed at supporting digital artists and programmers in the video games and post production sectors, and are compatible with industry-standard art/animation packages.
Specifically, the GenHead 2.0 tool enables users to create 3D animated heads from 2D images, adds an integrated desktop solution, allows easy creation of animation targets, permits, control over changes to age, gender and ethnicity, allows control over LOD of "mark-up" points, features an integrated variable resolution mesh, or "boned" head (user's own geometry can be imported), and allows a 3D interface/real-time update.
In addition to this, GenCrowd 1.0 generates thousands of synthetic, copyright free, photo-realistic 3D animated heads by age, gender and ethnicity. It can generate up to 1000 individual heads in less than 1 hour, create families and off-spring, create specific heads, and control and change age, gender and ethnicity by individual face or group.
