Nominations for the British Golden Joystick Awards 2006, organized by UK-headquartered game magazine and website publisher Future Publishing, have been announced, ahead of this year's awards scheduled for October 27th at the Park Lane Hilton in London.
The shortlists of finalists have been drawn up from online votes by gamers for titles released between August 1st 2005 and July 31st 2006 in the UK.
The awards are separated into sixteen categories, with
Mario Kart DS nominated for a total of six separate awards, while Nintendo is in contention for Publisher of the Year, and
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is apparently a notable contender in the Ultimate Game of the Year category.
Other notable finalists include
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess,
Halo 3 and
Grand Theft Auto IV in the One to Watch 2007 category. The Innovation Award current lists possible winners such as
Guitar Hero,
Brain Training (aka
Brain Age) and
We Love Katamari. As well as
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion other contenders for the Ultimate Game of the Year award include
Resident Evil 4,
Animal Crossing: Wild World and
Shadow of the Colossus.
