The 2005 Serious Games Summit, an event produced by CMP Game Group (which also runs Game Developers Conference, as well as GDC Europe, Game Developer magazine and Gamasutra.com), has had a date announced and registration opened. The 2005 conference will take place from October 31st to November 1st, 2005, at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Virginia.
The summit is the second annual serious games event from CMP, focusing on games created for purposes other than pure entertainment. Topics included will be advergaming, such as Flash-based games intended for commercial websites, or educational gaming, used in schools to supplement traditional curricula.
"Serious Games represents a brave new world for both game developers and the broader range of organizations with practical challenges," said Jamil Moledina, director of the Game Developers Conference. "As is characteristic of the GDC, the SGSDC serves as the leading forum where pioneers share their experiences in creating interactive solutions with quantifiable results."
"This year's conference will bring together many of the top industry leaders, from policy makers and government agencies to educators and game development experts," said Ben Sawyer of the Serious Games Initiative, who is serving as content director of the Serious Games Summit.
