Publisher Eidos Interactive has announced that a "special version" of Tomb Raider: Anniversary, the forthcoming PSP, PS2, and PC remake of the original Tomb Raider, is currently in production for the Nintendo Wii with requisite motion-sensing upgrades. As earlier reported, the re-imagining of the original Core-developed Tomb Raider, is being developed by Crystal Dynamics using an advanced version of the engine used for Tomb Raider: Legend, which, according to Eidos officials, allows “all of the nostalgic environments from the original adventure to be envisioned on a much grander scale.” No further details on the Wii version have yet been announced, such as specifically how the game will make use of the Wii remote or Nunchuck, though control changes have been promised. Said Eidos senior brand manager Kathryn Clements, "The Wii home video game system is a hugely innovative games console and we wanted to make a special version of Anniversary to appeal to Wii owners. The Wii remote and Nunchuck controllers allow Wii gamers to control Lara in brand new, unique ways, and there are plenty of new features, to be revealed soon, which will ensure Anniversary really hits the spot -- literally."
