Blizzard’s long-awaited real-time strategy game
Starcraft II: Wings of Liberty debuted at the top of the UK sales charts for the week ending July 31, tracking firm Chart-Track announced Monday.
Chart-Track’s data, which only includes sales of the boxed version of
Starcraft II, reveals that the sequel has already sold more in its first week than the original
Starcraft sold in its entire lifetime in the UK.
Disney’s
Toy Story 3 and Rockstar’s
Red Dead Redemption rounded out the top three of the all platforms list, with
Starcraft II as the only new title in the top 10 this week.
Last week’s debut title,
Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, jumped up two places to number seven.
After briefly slipping out of the top 10 last week,
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reached number eight, and
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 returned at number 10.
