Namco Bandai has announced that it is introducing a new take on its tremendously popular 3D fighting game series Soul Calibur with Soul Calibur Legends, a third person action game developed exclusively for the Wii. Soul Calibur Legends will follow Siegfried and other Soul Calibur characters as they quest to save an empire from destruction. Using the Wii remote and nunchuk, players will perform moves and combos as they combat “scores of enemies and large bosses,” according to an official statement announcing the game's development. Set for release this winter, the game marks the second time the weapons-based fighting series has appeared on a Nintendo platform, following 2003's release of Soul Calibur II for the GameCube, a title that included Nintendo icon Link as a selectable character. According to Namco Bandai officials, the now decade old series, which includes titles spanning multiple platforms beginning with the original Soul Blade for the PlayStation, has sold 9 million units worldwide.
