Popular online video game rental resource GameFly has released its top ten most requested title list for the week ending August 25, 2006, showing a continued demand for major new Xbox 360 releases with THQ's just-released Saints Row in the number one slot. Saints Row ousts last week's most requested title, Capcom's Dead Rising, which is still holding on strong at number two. Surprisingly, Saint's Row had not yet been released commercially at the time this list was compiled; it is set to ship today. The remainder of the top ten list remains dominated by Xbox 360 titles, including Madden NFL 07, LEGO Star Wars II, N3: Ninety-Nine Nights and the upcoming Enchanted Arms. Also included are a handful of new PlayStation 2 titles, including Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, Yakuza and Okami. The following top ten list represents the most requested titles from GameFly for the week ending August 25, 2006. Note that requested does not equate a shipping total, as users are able to request titles that have not yet been released. Also note that GameFly's top ten cross-platform chart does not specify which console each placed game represents, though based on platform-specific information, we're lead to believe that the number three placed Madden 07 is the Xbox 360 SKU, while the number seven slot represents numbers for its PlayStation 2 incarnation. Similarly, we're inclined to believe that the number four-slotted LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy represents the Xbox 360 version. Most Popular Games, Cross-Platform

For the original Xbox, Madden NFL 07 topped the charts, followed by LEGO Star Wars II and Vivendi's FlatOut 2. PlayStation 2's most requested title, as indicated in the overall top ten, was Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, followed by Madden NFL 07 and Yakuza. Nintendo's Gamecube also had a strong following for LEGO Star Wars II, which tops the list this week, followed by Pac-Man World Rally and Naruto: Clash of Ninja 2. In the portable space, PlayStation Portable's three most requested titles were Madden NFL 07, Loco Roco, and Ultimate Ghosts 'N Goblins, respectively. The Nintendo DS saw its usual first-party favoritism, with Star Fox: Command and Mario Hoops 3 on 3 filling the top two slots, with its portable incarnation of LEGO Star Wars II filling in the third slot.
