Pokemon Leads Japanese Sales, Kirby's Epic Yarn Makes Its Debut

Nintendo's Pokemon Black/White continues to lead the Japanese software sales charts, and the Wii-exclusive platformer Kirby's Epic Yarn debuts at number two, followed by Square Enix's Lord of Arcana.
Nintendo's ever popular Pokemon Black/White continue to top the Japanese hardware sales charts this week, followed by Kirby's Epic Yarn at number two, reports tracking firm Media Create. For the week ended October 17, Pokemon sold 168,541 units, and Kirby's Epic Yarn debuted with 92,280 units sold. Epic Yarn, a Wii exclusive platformer with an arts and crafts inspired art style, marks the first time a Kirby platform game has hit home consoles since Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards in 2000. Rounding out the top three this week is Square Enix's Lord of Arcana on PSP, a third-person action game that features multiplayer akin to Capcom's Monster Hunter series. The PlayStation 3 version of Rockstar and Take-Two's Red Dead Redemption remains in the Japanese top 10 this week, dropping from number four to number five. No other new titles debuted this week, though Sega's Black Leopard: A New Tale of Yakuza returns to the top 10 after falling from the charts last week. Titles dropping from the top 10 this week include Codemasters' F1 2010 and the Xbox 360 version of Red Dead Redemption. Below are Media Create's top 10 sales chart for the week ended October 17, 2010.
