NBA 2K11 Gets 3D-Ready With Upcoming Patch

The Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of 2K Sports' popular NBA 2K11 will receive a patch on January 16 that adds 3D functionality to the game for those with compatible televisions.
Many believe 3D's the next big frontier for games, so it's not too uncommon to hear about upcoming titles that plan to support it. It's a little more unusual to hear about 3D being implemented in a game after its launch -- but that's what 2K Sports appears to be doing with its NBA 2K11. The title, developed by Visual Concepts, released in October 2010. But consumer site GameSpot reports that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the game will receive a patch on January 16 that adds 3D functionality to the game for those with compatible televisions. The patch will also add changes intended to "enhance the experience" of playing online, although the report says these modifications haven't been specifically detailed. NBA 2K11 was a major driver for publisher Take-Two this year, helping carry the company toward a year-end with revenues up and profits on the books. The title was the ninth best-selling game of December 2010 and the 10th best-seller of the year, according to recent NPD results.
