Sony Computer Entertainment America will launch a PSP bundle in conjunction with upcoming
Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker's North America release on June 8, the company announced.
Notably, the bundle will not contain Sony's most recent incarnation of the hardware, the UMD-less PSP Go. As the highly-anticipated
Peace Walker will launch on UMD, the bundle will come with the game and a 'Spirited Green' PSP-3000.
It'll also contain a voucher for a movie downloadable from the PlayStation Network, plus a 2GB memory stick, and those who buy the bundle will be able to unlock in-game content such as special uniforms early on -- the package's total price is $199.99.
Peace Walker is director Hideo Kojima's direct sequel to PlayStation 2's
Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater, following the continuing story of rogue soldier Big Boss and his Outer Heaven establishment.
"Konami's
Metal Gear Solid franchise commands a massive fan base and we saw an amazing opportunity to create synergy with the
Metal Gear Solid franchise and bring a console-quality gaming experience to the PSP system," says SCEA product marketing VP Scott Steinberg.
