Matrix Game Retail Orders Surpass 4 Million Units

Atari said today that worldwide retail orders for Enter the Matrix have surpassed 4 million copies, making it "the biggest game we have ever shipped," according to Bruno Bonnell, the chairman and CEO of Infogrames.
The game was developed by Shiny Entertainment, using a script written by the Wachowski Brothers, creators of "The Matrix" film trilogy. The game will be released on May 15 in conjunction with film debut of "The Matrix Reloaded," and will be available for the PS2, Xbox, GameCube, and PC. The huge pre-orders are a vindication of sorts for Bonnell and Infogrames, after paying $47 million for Shiny a year ago -- although the the real test will come once the game ships and stores begin reporting sell-through numbers.
