Lego Indy Supplants Grand Theft Auto IV In UK Charts

Fortune and glory greets LucasArts' Lego Indiana Jones on its debut in the UK, as the multiformat release knocks Grand Theft Auto IV off the top of the combined and individual sales charts - led by the Wii version, with three other SKUs in t
After five weeks at number one, the Xbox 360 version of Grand Theft Auto IV has finally been supplanted at the top of the UK sales charts with LucasArts’ Lego Indiana Jones proving just as successful as previous Lego Star Wars titles. Lego Indiana Jones also tops the combined format charts at number one, outselling Grand Theft Auto IV by a ratio of almost 3 to 1 – as sales for Rockstar Games’ blockbuster drop by a further 44 percent on the previous week. LucasArts’ game, distributed in the UK by Activision, also topped each single format chart except for that of the PC. In the individual format charts, it is the Wii version of the game which has proven the most successful, accounting for 27 percent of all sales. The Xbox 360 version at number two took 22 percent of sales, with the PlayStation 2 version at number five accounting for 20 percent, the PlayStation 3 version at number eight 17 percent, the Nintendo DS version at number twelve 13 percent and the PC version, which did not chart in the top forty, 2 percent. Also new in the top ten this week is Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden II on Xbox 360, published in the UK by Microsoft. The latest in the franchise, which is not as well established in Europe as in the U.S. and Japan, debuted at number seven in the individual format charts and at number six in the combined formats chart. Outside of the top ten Konami and Hudson’s Sports Island (aka Deca Sports) for Wii enters at number fifteen. Meanwhile, the Xbox 360 version of Dragon Ball Z: Burst Limit enters the individual format chart at number nineteen, with the PlayStation 3 version at number forty. Finally, the new PC version of Mass Effect debuts at number thirty-two. A re-entry due to renewed stock at number twenty-two is hardware bundle Link’s Crossbow Training. For the third week, there is no sign of Wii Fit in the top forty, as the key release remains entirely out of stock in the UK – despite reports of stock being diverted from the U.S. launch to Europe. Overall in the top forty there are fourteen Wii titles, eight each for the Nintendo DS and Xbox 360, seven for the PlayStation 3, two for the PC, one for the PlayStation 2 and none for the PSP.
