Bungie and Microsoft’s
Halo 3: ODST debuted at number one on UK weekly sales charts, followed by the latest
Professor Layton game,
Chart-Track said Monday.
Halo 3: ODST for Xbox 360 and
Professor Layton and Pandora’s Box (known as
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box in the U.S.) for the Nintendo DS ousted last week’s all-platforms top game, Electronic Arts’
Need for Speed: Shift, for the week ended September 26.
The highly-anticipated
Halo 3: ODST sold 64 percent of its total weekly sales in its first 24 hours of availability, Chart-Track said. It’s the 12th highest-ranking game in week-one sell-through for a single SKU, the tracking firm added. The original
Halo 3 ranks fourth after
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for PS2,
GTA IV for Xbox 360, then
GTA IV for PS3.
Other new games debuting this past week on the all-platforms chart in the UK were Activision Blizzard’s
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2 at number seven, and NCsoft’s latest MMO
Aion at number 11.
Activision Blizzard’s
Guitar Hero 5 dropped from second to fourth week-on-week, while EA and Harmonix’s
The Beatles: Rock Band fell out of the top 10 from seventh to 13th.
Other games falling out of the top 10 from last week include Activision’s
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, which dropped from eighth to 24th, and EA Sports’
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10, which fell from 10th to 23rd.
