Incredible Technologies, the producers of the Golden Tee LIVE
trackball arcade golf machines, one of the few widely successful U.S. arcade game products, have announced that the machines will soon support credit card payments. The new payment option is one of several non-traditional methods that the continuing Golden Tee
arcade franchise supports, including personal player accounts and gift cards, in addition to the standard quarters or tokens.
More frequently seen in bars and other leisure areas than standard video game arcades, Golden Tee
has become one of the more successful North American arcade titles of the last few years, and this latest iteration of the game features online play, as well as customizable characters and even cash prizes for tournament winners. Arlington Heights, Illinois-headquartered Incredible Technologies has also recently announced
an AdWiz advertising client for operators of Golden Tee
arcade machines, allowing location-specific ads to be displayed.
The company will work with Chase Paymentech to administrate the credit card program. "Chase Paymentech Solutions is delighted to offer the latest in payments technology to Incredible Technologies customers," said Chase Paymentech executive VP Robert Wechsler. "It shows a savvy business strategy to offer their customers the ease of use and convenience that comes with credit card payments."
According to studies, introduction of credit card payment options into traditional cash-only industries causes around 20% increased business for the industry. "Credit cards will allow Golden Tee
players to stay longer in locations and play more games," said Incredible Technologies VP of product development Larry Hodgson. "It's the next logical step for our game and our industry."
