Final Fantasy XIII debuted at the top of the all-platforms retail charts in the UK for the week ended March 13, bumping down last week's number one, Electronic Arts'
Battlefield: Bad Company 2,
Chart-Track reported Monday.
The game released on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on March 9 in the UK, about three months after the game's December release in Japan. Chart-Track said that the game, the only new release during the past week in the top 10, is the fastest-selling title of this year. The Xbox 360 version captured 46 percent of total unit sales, while the PlayStation 3 version captured 54 percent.
Chart-Track said that the last
Final Fantasy game to hit the top of the charts in the UK was 2007's
Final Fantasy XII.
The next-highest ranking new titles were D3 Publisher's
Ben 10: Alien Force - Vigilax Attacks, which missed the top 10 at number 13, and THQ and Relic's PC RTS,
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Chaos at number 14.
