Doctor Who: The Adventure Games Returns For Second Series

Following the widespread success of the BBC's free-to-play Doctor Who: The Adventure Games, the British broadcaster has commissioned a second series, to be developed by Sumo Digital.
A second series of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games has been commissioned by the BBC. The series of interactive episodes is to be developed, once again, by British studio Sumo Digital (Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, Virtua Tennis 2009) with support from the team behind television series, including head writer and executive producer Steven Moffat. "Given the success of the first series, we'd be daft not to recommission," said Simon Nelson, head of multi-platform in vision at BBC. "We've set new standards in audience participation -- and we think we've really helped push the concept of families actively playing together. I can't wait to see what the team does next." The publicly-funded game project is set to integrate more fully with the story of the forthcoming television program, and Matt Smith and Karen Gillen will return to provide their likenesses and voices to the game in the roles of the Doctor and his assistant, Amy Pond. The first three Doctor Who: The Adventure Games episodes attracted 1.6 million downloads from the BBC website, with the final episode of the first series due for release "later this year".
