The Behemoth-developed Xbox Live Arcade game
Castle Crashers has hit 1 million players as indicated by the game's online leaderboards, the studio
said this week.
"This is really big news! Thanks to you guys
Castle Crashers has become the fastest growing XBLA game in history! And saved marriages. AMAZING! I am amazed," wrote
Castle Crashers lead artist, Dan Paladin in The Behemoth's blog.
Independent developer The Behemoth released the side-scrolling beat-em-up
Castle Crashers on Xbox Live in August 2008. The game
went on to be the most-downloaded Xbox Live Arcade title for the year.
Castle Crashers' online leaderboards
hit 250,000 entries in September 2008, and
700,000 in March this year.
The Behemoth is also known for the 2002 Flash-based game
Alien Hominid, another visually striking game which gained popularity and eventually moved to PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox, and Game Boy Advance in 2004. 2007 saw the release of
Alien Hominid HD on Xbox Live Arcade.
The Behemoth is currently at work on a third unannounced title, expected to launch next year.
