The two map packs released to date for Treyarch's
Call of Duty: World At War have together sold over 4 million copies over Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, says Activision.
The stats came as the publisher announced a third map pack for the game, slated to launch in August. Map Pack 3 will feature three multiplayer maps titled "Battery," "Revolution" and "Breach," plus one new Zombie map called "Der Riese."
Map Pack 3 is co-developed with Austin-based
Age of Booty developer Certain Affinity, which has also worked on multiplayer maps for
Halo 2 and provided support to Valve on the Xbox 360 version of
Left 4 Dead.
Call of Duty: World At War itself has sold 11 million copies worldwide since its November 11, 2008 launch on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS2, Wii, DS, PC and mobile platforms, says Activision, citing data from NPD, ChartTrack and Gfk.
The next title in the
Call Of Duty franchise is the softly subtitled
Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, developed by original
CoD house Infinity Ward and due out this holday season.
