Call of Duty 4 Leads BAFTA Winners

Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare won big at the 2009 BAFTAs with three awards -- EA Redwood Shores' Dead Space was the only other multiple award winner.
Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare won big at 2009's BAFTA Game Awards in London, picking up three awards including the audience-voted GAME Award of 2008. Unusually, due to an adjustment in the annual consideration period for the game-related BAFTAs, titles released both in late 2007 as well as all of 2008 were eligible -- explaining why Infinity Ward's November 2007 game made the cut. Call of Duty 4's other honors were for Gameplay, the first award of the night, and Story and Character. The only other title to rack up more than one win was EA Redwood Shores' Dead Space, which took Original Score and Use of Audio. The overall Best Game for the awards, which mirror similar film awards given out yearly by the British association, went to Nintendo EAD Tokyo's Super Mario Galaxy. The full list of winners is as follows: - Action & Adventure: Fable II (Lionhead Studios) - Artistic Achievement: LittleBigPlanet (Media Molecule) - Best Game: Super Mario Galaxy (Nintendo EAD Tokyo) - Casual: Boom Blox (EA Los Angeles) - Gameplay: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward) - Handheld: Professor Layton and the Curious Village (Level-5) - Multiplayer: Left 4 Dead (Valve) - Original Score: Dead Space (EA Redwood Shores) - Sports: Race Driver: GRID (Codemasters) - Strategy: Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution (Firaxis Games) - Story and Character: Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward) - Technical Achievement: Spore (Maxis) - Use of Audio: Dead Space (EA Redwood Shores) - BAFTA Ones To Watch Award in association with Dare to Be Digital: Boro-Toro (DarkMatter Designs) - GAME Award of 2008: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Infinity Ward)
