Battlefield 1943 Sells 1 Million On XBLA

EA DICE's online multiplayer shooter Battlefield 1943 has sold 1 million units on the Xbox Live Arcade platform alone since last July, according to publisher Electronic Arts.
EA DICE's online multiplayer shooter Battlefield 1943 has sold 1 million units on the Xbox Live Arcade platform alone, according to publisher Electronic Arts. EA says this makes 1943 the fastest game to reach a million sales on Xbox Live Arcade. The company gave no sales figures for the PlayStation Network version. The game's announced PC version has been considerably delayed, but EA says it will "soon also be available." Released last July for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, Battlefield 1943 was the second game in DICE's long-running team-based, class-based shooter series to be sold only by way of direct download. The first, Battlefield Heroes on PC, was released the previous month. Producer Gordon Van Dyke says the game's reception has illustrated gamers' perception of it as a strong value and an introduction to Battlefield gameplay. "The game has set a new standard for what can be done in the downloadable games category," he said in a statement. "It's fantastic to see how gamers have recognized the value that the game delivers for just $15. It is another great entry point into the Battlefield franchise."
