Over 2.5 million users have downloaded Microsoft's 1 vs. 100, the Xbox Live adaptation of the popular TV game show, since the start of its beta season in North America, the UK, Republic of Ireland, Germany and France, says the company. This makes 1 vs. 100 one of the top ten most-downloaded content items on the service to date, Microsoft adds. As many as 200,000 users worldwide tune in to play daily -- one night, 215,000 Europeans and 230,000 North Americans competed at the same time. That's more simultaneous players than the Guinness world record for most game show contestants, Microsoft notes, adding that in the UK and Ireland, up to 79,000 contestants have competed simultaneously. The game works similarly to the broadcast game show, airing at a specific time in each region via Xbox Live and led by a live host. Players are represented by their Xbox Live avatars. One individual competes to outdo a group of 100 other players on multiple-choice trivia questions; players who give incorrect answers are eliminated, and the object for the "one" is to remain in the game longer than the "mob" of 100 others. If the "one" can win, the prize is 10,000 Microsoft Points; if the "mob" eliminates the contestant, they divvy up what remains of the prize among however many of them remain.
