Top-Grossing iTunes Apps: Oregon Trail, Street Fighter IV Return to Charts

Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see the return of Real Racing and Street Fighter IV following recent content-expanding updates, as a discounted The Oregon Trail challenges Angry Birds for the top sales spot
Every week, sister iPhone site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. revenue charts see the return of Real Racing and Street Fighter IV following recent content-expanding updates, as a discounted The Oregon Trail challenges Angry Birds for the top sales spot. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. Angry Birds ($0.99) 2. The Oregon Trail ($0.99) 3. Real Racing ($4.99) 4. Bejeweled 2 ($2.99) 5. Doodle Jump ($0.99) 6. Street Fighter IV ($9.99) 7. Tetris ($2.99) 8. Words With Friends ($2.99) 9. Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99) 10. The Sims 3 ($6.99) Gameloft's adaptation of the educational adventure game The Oregon Trail finishes as today's second highest-grossing iPhone game app, thanks to a recent 99-cent sale. Firemint's Real Racing takes third after a recent update adding iPhone 4 compatibility, as Angry Birds remains the App Store's top overall seller. Capcom's Street Fighter IV returns to the charts this week at sixth place following a recent update adding Cammy and Zangief as playable characters. Tetris follows close behind at seventh place, as chart mainstays Words With Friends, Plants vs. Zombies, and The Sims 3 finish up today's results. Here are this week’s top-grossing iPad applications: 1. Angry Birds HD ($4.99) 2. Scrabble for iPad ($9.99) 3. Plants vs. Zombies HD ($9.99) 4. GT Racing: Motor Academy HD ($9.99) 5. Tap Fish (Free) 6. Zombie Farm (Free) 7. Real Racing HD ($9.99) 8. GodFinger (Free) 9. Farm Story Snap (Free) 10. Isaac Newton's Gravity HD ($9.99) Clickgamer's Angry Birds manages to top both the iPhone and iPad's highest-grossing game charts this week, with the enhanced HD version leading over longtime favorites Scrabble for iPad and Plants vs. Zombies HD.
