Top-Grossing iTunes Apps: Doodle God, Archetype Sell Big on iPhone

Apple's latest U.S. App Store game charts by revenue see Doodle God and the multiplayer FPS Archetype take on Angry Birds, as Zombie Farm and Tap Fish find success on the iPad.
Every week, sister iPhone and iPad site FingerGaming rounds up the top-grossing iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra. This week's U.S. revenue charts see Doodle God and the multiplayer FPS Archetype take on Angry Birds, as Zombie Farm and Tap Fish find success on the iPad. These charts allow end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies. Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings. This week's top-grossing iPhone titles are: 1. Angry Birds ($0.99) 2. Doodle God ($0.99) 3. Archetype ($2.99) 4. The Oregon Trail ($0.99) 5. Tetris ($2.99) 6. Pac-Man ($4.99) 7. Bejeweled 2 ($2.99) 8. Street Fighter IV ($9.99) 9. Plants vs. Zombies ($2.99) 10. Doodle Jump ($0.99) JoyBits' puzzler Doodle God and Villain LLC's online multiplayer FPS Archetype make strong impressions in this week's iPhone sales chart, though neither title can match the continuing success of Clickgamer's reigning chart leader Angry Birds. Gameloft's The Oregon Trail remains a top grossing title even after the conclusion of a recent sale, as Namco's Pac-Man returns to the top ten to overtake Bejeweled 2 and Capcom's recently updated Street Fighter IV. Here are this week’s top-grossing iPad applications: 1. Angry Birds HD ($4.99) 2. Zombie Farm (Free) 3. Scrabble for iPad ($9.99) 4. Plants vs. Zombies HD ($9.99) 5. Tap Fish: Exotic (Free) 6. Tap Fish (Free) 7. Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge Special Edition for iPad ($9.99) 8. Brain Challenge HD ($0.99) 9. GodFinger (Free) 10. GT Racing: Motor Academy HD ($9.99) Several free-to-play titles rank among this week's top-grossing iPad game apps, based on the strength of microtransaction sales. Playforge's Zombie Farm rivals Angry Birds HD for the top spot, as Tap Fish and its recently released expansion Tap Fish: Exotic trail behind Scrabble for iPad and Plants vs. Zombies HD. LucasArts' upgraded Special Edition of the classic point-and-click adventure title Monkey Island 2: LeChuck's Revenge sees fast sales in its first day of release, meanwhile, as Gameloft's discounted Brain Challenge HD outperforms ngmoco's free-to-play simulation title GodFinger in today's chart rankings.
