Every week, sister iPhone site FingerGaming
rounds up the top-grossing iPhone and iPod Touch applications, as current that day in the iTunes App Store, and this chart is now available on Gamasutra.
This week's U.S. iPhone revenue charts see EA's Rock Band
challenge Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
for the top chart spot, as Bejeweled 2
overtakes The Sims 3
in daily sales.
This chart allows end users to see who is making the most money on the App Store that day. It differs significantly from the Top 10 Games chart, which is ranked by sales, and therefore is dominated by lower-priced titles that sell more copies.
Data comes courtesy of Apple's public sales information. All titles in the App Store's "Games" category are considered in chart rankings.
This week's top-grossing U.S. App Store titles are:
1. Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
2. Rock Band
3. Call of Duty: World at War Zombies
4. Bejeweled 2
5. The Sims 3
6. Doodle Jump
8. The Game of Life: Classic Edition
9. Madden NFL 10
10. Words With Friends
Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars
tops App Store sales across all categories for the second week in a row. EA's iPhone version of Rock Band
moves up to second place following the recent release of a free demo version, pushing Activision's former chart leader Call of Duty: World at War Zombies
to third place.
PopCap's Bejeweled 2
moves up past Electronic Arts' The Sims 3
in today's rankings, as Lima Sky's 99-cent Doodle Jump
settles in at sixth place after taking fifth last week.
and The Game of Life: Classic Edition
also see slight drops in popularity, finishing at seventh and eighth place. Madden NFL 10
follows at ninth, as Newtoy's Scrabble-like multiplayer word game Words With Friends
enters the chart at tenth place.
