France-based engine developer Stonetrip announced that its ShiVa 3D engine has added support for the Android platform. Licensees now have access to a beta version of the authoring tool in the weeks leading up to an upcoming commercial release.
The ShiVa engine is a content creation toolkit for PC, Mac, Linux, Web, and iPhone platforms. More than 8,000 applications and hundreds of games have taken advantage of ShiVa technology to date.
Stonetrip has placed specific emphasis on porting iPhone content to the Android platform. The company notes that developer DVide Arts was able to create an Android version of its iPhone action-RPG
Crusade of Destiny "in just a few clicks" using the Shiva 3D engine's new features.
"With the success of iPhone and the App Store, we see Android as a platform with a lot of potential," said Stonetrip CEO Philip Belhassen. "Being on the target platform early will allow ShiVa developers to capture the audience early and build their brands. iPhone apps built in ShiVa can quickly and easily be ported to Android with minimal effort."
