Following a speedy rise up the App Store sales charts, Chillingo's iPhone and iPad puzzler Cut the Rope
has surpassed 1 million sales units in its first 10 days of release, the publisher announced today.
According to Apple's sales charts, Cut the Rope
ranks as this week's biggest-selling iPhone application
across all categories, and is currently the platform's highest-grossing
game title in the United States. A free trial version, Cut the Rope Lite
, leads as this week's top free download in the App Store.
The iPad-enhanced Cut the Rope HD
reports similar success, heading the platform's free, paid, and top-grossing charts.
Factoring in sales for both the standard and HD editions, Chillingo claims that Cut the Rope
reached 1 million sales units faster than any other game title in the App Store's two-year history. Previous million-sellers -- including Freeverse's Flick Fishing
, Firemint's Flight Control, and Halfbrick's Fruit Ninja
-- reported reaching the milestone after months of availability.
"Cut the Rope
's popularity has skyrocketed throughout recent days as fans eagerly share with others how addictive and fun the gameplay is on iOS devices," said Chillingo director Chris Byatte. "We are thrilled to see Om Nom’s fame spread across the world and are collaborating with developer ZeptoLab to bring fresh new updates, which will be revealed soon."
