XYZ Vizion demoed the pre-production prototype of its VZX 100 system at Siggraph 2001, showing off its capability for automated, single-step capture, processing, and display of an object as a photo-realistic 3D image with accurate dimensional data. The VZX 100 is an integrated system comprising off-the-shelf hardware (e.g., camera, processor, tripods, hardware controllers) and XYZ's proprietary image processing software. XYZ Vision says the VZX 100 system encapsulates a complete technology package to enable ''reverse modeling`` for a wide range of physical objects, aiding in realism for objects in animation and game design. VZX 100 systems will be priced and available by the end of 3Q2001.
