Despite the rush of new game releases, there has not been a single new entry in the UK sales top ten this week, with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire moving up to number one following the release of the movie. There has been relatively little movement of any kind in the top ten, with the re-entry of the now budget priced PSP launch title World Tour Soccer at number seven being the only real surprise. As ever, the titles which failed to get into the top ten are as interesting as those that did, with Activision’s console title Call of Duty 2: Big Red One coming in at number twelve, soccer management game LMA Manager 2006 at number thirteen and Peter Jackson’s King Kong at number fourteen. PSP-exclusive Pursuit Force entered at number sixteen, with James Bond license From Russia With Love at number nineteen. The release of the Xbox version of Half-Life 2 boosted the combined chart placing of the game, now published by Electronic Arts, to number twenty-two, while Sega’s Shadow the Hedgehog entered at number twenty-five. Ridge Racer become the second budget-priced re-entry for the PSP at number thirty-one, while PC mini-expansion pack The Sims 2 Christmas Party Pack entered at number thirty-four. Electronic Arts' Battlefield 2: Modern Combat was the final new entry in the top forty at number thirty-six. Although many of these titles are likely to improve their position over the weeks, particularly King Kong, once the attendant movie is released, the relatively subdued entry of other prominent titles once again illustrates the dangers, for even the largest publishers, of releasing products at such an already busy time of year.
