Enterbrain reported that hardware sales rose to 196.1 billion yen last year from 174.2 billion yen in 2000, however, sales of software declined 7.3 percent to 271.9 billion. Enterbrain described 2001 as a year of transition, pointing to the debut of Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance and GameCube as well as the exit of Sega’s Dreamcast.
