UK-based developer Mind Candy said Wednesday that its online kid-friendly free-to-play social game Moshi Monsters has surpassed 15 million users. That user base is growing at a rapid rate, claimed Mind Candy CEO Michael Acton Smith. "Moshi Monsters has been adding over 150,000 new players a day and is now one of the fastest growing children's games in the world," he said. In December 2009, Mind Candy said the game reached 10 million players. While the game is free-to-play for certain aspects such as adopting a pet monster, chatting with other members and playing games and puzzles, Mind Candy offers more content through a subscription service introduced just over a year ago. U.S. subscribers can pay $5.95 for a month, $29.95 for six months or $49.95 for 12 months. Activities within the Moshi Monsters world include educational puzzles and social-focused gameplay that's kid and parent friendly, Mind Candy said.
