Criterion Software has announced the release of its new RenderWare Platform - a middleware solution offering game studios a tightly integrated game development framework incorporating 2D/3D graphics, audio and physics modules. RenderWare Platform builds on Criterion Software's RenderWare3, its 2D/3D graphics toolkit, to provide developers with a true multi-platform development environment. Built on its open and flexible architecture, RenderWare Platform initially incorporates 2D/3D graphics, audio and physics modules, with additional modules to follow. The first three modules of the RenderWare Platform are RenderWare Graphics, RenderWare Audio, and RenderWare Physics. RenderWare Graphics is essentially the 2D/3D graphics toolkit previously known as RenderWare3. RenderWare Audio is an extensible, data-driven, multi-platform interactive audio engine with Sound Designer tool support and support for 3D positional audio. RenderWare Physics is a portfolio of game/genre specific physics effects built on a common underlying maths library. Criterion Software intends to offer RenderWare Platform for all major game consoles and PC and it will be demonstrated at Criterion's booth at the Game Developer Conference in San Jose.
