If you've been trying to get your hands on Abrash's "Black Book" but come up short (it's out of print), look no further. Dr. Dobb's Journal and Michael Abrash are re-releasing Abrash's Graphics Programming Black Book through the Dobb's web site. The book is presented in PDF format (a series of chapters) and is freely available for download at http://www.ddj.com/articles/2001/0165/0165f/0165f.htm. The Graphics Programming Black Book is a collection of Abrash's books and articles on topics such as optimization, assembly language, texture mapping, hidden surface removal, and other topics central to high-performance graphics and game programming. In addition, the book includes behind-the-scenes looks at the technology behind the Doom and Quake 3D games by id Software.
