VR dev Lucid Sight nets $3.5 million, will release 20 games this year

"This capital will allow us to release high-quality and free ad-supported games across all VR platforms at a higher pace."

L.A.-based virtual reality studio, Lucid Sight, has raised $3.5 million in Series A funding to accelerate the development of VR titles.

The Poly Runner VR and Space Bit Attack creator plans on releasing 20 titles by the end of 2016.

"This capital will allow us to release high-quality and free ad-supported games across all VR platforms at a higher pace," said Randy Saaf, company CEO and co-founder.

Lucid will also use the cash to open up its VR Ad SKD to other devs who want to monetize using virtual reality ads.

"Many developers will find that they will make more money giving away their game ad supported than selling it," explained Saaf.

"Traditional flat advertising on TV, web, or mobile can't convey VR’s sense of immersion, presence, and scale. The only place to effectively promote a VR experience is within another VR experience."
