reports that a new training center in South Carolina offers local students and teachers a look at modern immersive technologies and serious game applications.
SimHub, launched last Thursday at the University Center in Greenville, features a broad selection of virtual worlds, simulations, serious games, and augmented reality applications.
SimHub administrators note that the center focuses on informing students of recent developments in the field of training technologies and acquainting educators with technology that can be used in the classroom.
"We have a generation of 'digital natives' arriving at school and these levels of technology and access are their standards," notes SimHub's
official website. "Many educators are 'digital immigrants' and are having to adjust their concept of what learning means. SimHub will serve as a demonstration and development site to bridge that gap through technology.
"One of the hurdles to advancing educational delivery is having access to these tools, so SimHub offers faculty and students opportunities to collaborate and investigate cutting-edge technologies, as well as reinvent traditional teaching methods."
