In 2007, Vancouver Film School (VFS), which also runs a large variety of video game-related courses, commemorates its twentieth anniversary, and to celebrate, VFS is planning a year of events. The year-long celebration begins with VFS offering 1 million dollars in scholarships to students with a combination of ambition, talent and need. Starting August, 2006, VFS will be awarding scholarships across fourteen different programs to aspiring artists applying under this program for the upcoming 2006/2007 start dates.
VFS has become the largest private post-secondary entertainment arts institution in Canada, graduating well over a thousand aspiring artists annually. Scholarships are open to students around the globe who are eager to gain the skills they need to succeed in the highly competitive world of entertainment arts through one intensive year at VFS. VFS tauts preparing young artists in only one year for careers in the entertainment industry by exposing students to major companies such as Lucasfilm, Pixar, Dreamworks, and Electronic Arts, as well as industry-experienced faculty and guest speakers.
Additionally, VFS will be announcing a plan for a series of events to take place throughout 2007, including film and animation festivals, guest speaking events, film and TV industry networking events, hardware/software giveaways, and student competitions.
