The best part of GameDev interviews is seeing all the different studios

I have come to the conclusion that for me the best part of the interview process is seeing all the awesome and unique environments in which games are produced.

Though I am still a Grunt in terms of my career as a game developer I have been on enough interviews to begin figuring out what i do and don't like about the interviewing process. In my experience phone interviews are always the worst , usually the situations where i  am my most nervous and usualy ending in a positive ( come in and chat ) or a negative( we will keep your resume on file) but very definite situation.

Still in my experience actualy interviewing in person has almost always been an amazing experience  . Usuaully i get to talk to a very clever and intelligent person who loves videogames nearly as much as I do , tell them a bit about how i got here, and get a general idea of the stuido , team , and the current project are coming along and what exactly i may be doing.

Yet nothing and i mean NO THING is more amazing then the wonderful nests our games are created fro .  Not necessarily because all of the studios are impressive but moreso because  of how varied and different they are. From the relaxing large office located on the beach with dogs who roam around freely ,  to the quiet office covered in cubicles overseen by the executive folk.  I have been in studios that i quite frankly thought were empty condemned buildings only to discover mountains of candy, coffee machines, and other pick-me-ups and on the flip side had inteviews in hotel lobbies  that housed the studio somewhere within a sprawling complex.

I honestly and truly love it,   it just  further solidifies in my belief of the " magic" of the game developement process,  that truly a game maintains a piece of the development team and studio behind it and though i have only seen about 7 studios in person i can only imagine how varied other game studios are as well  and what the atmosphere and team behind my favorite games must have been like.
