A lineup of panels and speakers has been announced for the third annual Game Accessibility Day, an event at the upcoming Games for Health Conference highlighting the development of game applications for players with disabilities. Game Accessibility Day will open at 9:00 AM on May 25th with an introduction from AbleGamers Foundation president and CEO Mark Barlet, followed by a keynote address from VTree president Chuck Bergen. Bergen will discuss the origins of My Football Game, an Electronic Arts-published sports title developed with the needs of disabled gamers in mind. Presentations will follow from Tobi Saulnier ("Winter's Tale: A Case Study of Designing for Game Accessibility on the Nintendo DS"), Katherine Mancuso ("Best Practices for Accessible Communication Using a Virtual World"), and Tim Holt ("Game Accessibility in Special Education.") Discussions planned for later in the day will cover the creation of accessible user interfaces, the role of speech in gameplay, and ways in which sight-impaired players can enjoy Rock Band. Game Accessibility Day panels, group activities, and a "Hacker Hardware Challenge" will take place from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM at the 2010 Games for Health Conference, to be held on May 25th at the Hyatt Harborside Hotel in Boston. Early registration for the conference is now available.
