Stop the presses, there was a line in the women's restroom..

For me, as a woman at gaming conferences, I'm usually alone when I go to the ladies' washroom.  It's a time to network with the one or two other women over the gleeful joking of MEN having to stand in line for once.  I couldn't believe it.  There was a time at GDC this year when I actually had to wait in line.  It happened just once, and briefly, but it happened.

Ahead of the April 2010 issue of the Game Developer magazine with its industry Salary Survey results, I tried to find out if the number of women in our industry has gone up.  We'll all have to wait and see if women waiting in line for the restroom was a fluke or not.  I suspect with the growth of casual, social and iPhone games there are more women then ever before.

Do I want this?  The answer is a firm "no".  I do not want the percentage of women in gaming to go up.  But that's a topic for some future day, and it doesn't have to do with waiting in bathroom lines.
