Live eSports matches join BBC programming lineup

BBC Three is the latest television station to block off a number of hours for broadcasting live eSports matches.

The UK’s British Broadcasting Corporation, fondly known as the BBC, is the latest television station to block off a number of hours for broadcasting live eSports matches.

The organization will be broadcasting matches from the Gfinity Elite League Series One over the next six weeks on BBC Three. During that time, the channel will air live Street Fighter V, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, and Rocket League matches for four hours a weekend.

The BBC isn’t the first major station to bring eSports events to its live programming lineup, but the event’s inclusion in the major British station’s lineup serves as yet another reminder of how significant competitive games and eSports have become in just the past few years.

Information on how and where to catch the upcoming event can be found over on the BBC’s website
