Intern's Log: Week 16.2

Arkham City's portrayal of Catwoman as a playable character.

http://www.next-gen.biz/news/out-there-batman-super-duper-sexist

In the Batman universe, most villains and heros have clear objectives and actions that reflect their motives and dysfunctional personalities.  Catwoman periodically has had this treatment with some versions injecting some character into her.  However, in Arkham City, this does not come across so much as a hero/villain set up as much as it does some girl cosplaying a giant kitty.

Furthermore, the enemies only have a few lines that describe her with the rest being offensive when compared to her dark knight counterpart.  That is to say, Batman's treatment is that of fear and bloodlust while Catwoman's is distinctly of domestic violence.  Sex does sell, but everyone could have gone for Catwoman getting an actual character out of the gate rather than a plaything.
