I/ITSEC Issues Call for Entries in Serious Games Showcase

The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference has issued a call for entries in its upcoming Serious Games Showcase & Challenge, a competition open to submissions from the military, industry, and academic fields.
The Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference (I/ITSEC) has issued a call for entries in the upcoming Fourth Annual I/ITSEC Serious Games Showcase & Challenge. Competitors in the military, industry, and academic fields are invited to submit their serious games projects for the challenge, in which finalists will earn a chance to showcase their entries at I/ITSEC 2009. Entries will be judged in four areas: Use of Gaming Characteristics, Solution to a Stated Problem, Technical Quality, and Playability/Usability. A single finalist will be chosen in each of the entry categories (student, government, and business), with additional awards planned for the best overall game and for the title chosen by the "Peoples Choice" audience vote. Serious games will be accepted for entry between August 15th and September 30th, 2009. Submissions for the student category must be created by team members who were enrolled as students at any time between September 30th, 2008 and September 30th, 2009. The I/ITSEC previously announced the winners of last year's Serious Games Showcase & Challenge competition in December. Last year's winning entries covered topics including ecological balance, geo-location, and burn victim medical treatment. After this year's submission deadline, finalists chosen by the I/ITSEC will be notified by e-mail on October 15th, 2009. Finalist entries will be showcased at the Serious Games Pavilion 2009 at the I/ITSEC Conference, to be held between November 30th and December 3rd, 2009.
