Humana Games for Health has opened submissions for
InsertCoin, a competition that encourages designers to submit new game concepts centered around player health and activity.
Humana notes that the contest intends to focus less on the food, fitness, and disease management games that already populate the health genre of serious games.
Instead, entries in the contest must feature some kind of health benefit. Humana encourages contest entries that will inspire players to exercise or make good decisions regarding health and wellness.
Concept submissions may be playable on existing consoles or mobile platforms, and may incorporate accessories like GPS devices and accelerometers. Entries must address one of three player groups -- kids, families, and seniors -- or they may address all three.
The contest will award a pot of $10,000 to three finalists. The contest's top titles will additionally be evaluated by Humana for potential publishing. Idea authors for published games will be offered a profit share from sales.
Entries for the competition will be accepted up until September 9th, 2009. Winners will be announced and posted at
Humana Games' website in November.
