The Oman technology hub Knowledge Oasis Muscat has launched this year's eGames: Serious Play Conference, to be held on March 30th in Muscat, Oman. The conference will feature a speaker lineup of international serious games developers and experts.
eGames: Serious Play Conference has earned the support of the Omani government, which has pushed recently for the development of serious game applications in the areas of tourism and marketing. Other regional supporters include the Information Technology Authority, the Middle East College for Information Technology, and the Oman Economic Review.
"Serious gaming can potentially revolutionise the way in which Oman attracts tourists, promotes and protects its cultural assets, attracts inward investment, teaches school and college students and brands the nation," said Knowledge Oasis Muscat's General Director Mohammed Al Maskari.
Tufool Al Dhahab of Oman's Information Technology Authority feels that the conference will also promote the development of educational games.
"Serious games represents the next evolutionary step in the field of technology-enabled learning, bringing new levels of engagement, motivation and context to the learning process," said Tufool Al Dhahab. "ITA is delighted about being involved in the Serious Games Conference and given the line-up of highly-experienced international speakers. I fully expect this year's event to be a tremendous success."
