Bungie Software founder and Halo series creator Alex Seropian is set to become the second Game Designer-in-Residence at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois this spring. Seropian will join industry executives Ed Keenan and Bill Muehl as the newest members of DePaul's College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) game development faculty. DePaul's CDM game development program offers graduate and undergraduate courses in game design, programming, production, and animation. More than 1,000 full-time students are currently enrolled in DePaul's 14 different undergraduate degree plans, and over 1,950 are enrolled in its 18 graduate programs. Seropian, currently serving as president of the Chicago-based Wideload Games, will replace industry veteran Eugene Jarvis as the University's Game Designer in Residence. Jarvis, the creator of classic arcade titles like Defender and Robotron, will take a permanent role in DePaul's game development program. Former Midway Games executive technology director Ed Keenan will join DePaul as a full-time faculty member specializing in advanced computer graphics programming. Bill Muehl, previously a senior producer at Midway, will supervise DePaul's production and design curriculum. "We are delighted to have three of the most prominent figures in the industry become part of our rapidly growing game development program," said CDM Dean David Miller. "Alex, Ed and Bill each bring incredible track records of success that will serve our students well."
