[Every week, Gamasutra sums up sister iPhone site FingerGaming's top news and reviews for Apple's nascent -- and increasingly exciting -- portable games platform, as written by editor Matt Burris and guest editors Eric Caoili and Danny Cowan.] This week's notable items in the iPhone gaming space include GameLoft's mythology-based action title Hero of Sparta, ngmoco's 3D shooter Dropship, and a trio of announced December releases from Com2uS. Here are the top stories: Dropship in App Store "ngmoco follows up last week’s release of Dr. Awesome with Dropship, an arcade shooter that features vector-styled 3D environments and dual-analog touch controls." Com2uS Announces Three for App Store in December "Korea-based developer/publisher Com2uS has announced its December release lineup. Three titles are on tap for this month, including a horror-themed adventure game, an action-RPG, and a simulation of 'America's favorite fall competitive sport': tailgating." Monopoly Here & Now in App Store "EA Mobile released Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition, a virtual version of the popular board game, or at least, the latest version of the game’s World Edition. Monopoly Here & Now replaces familiar streets with recognizable cities from all around the world, such as London, New York, and, um, Gdynia." Maze Wars Revisited Developer Profiled "CNet has a profile on Dennis Hescox, an iPhone game developer who hasn’t seen much success with his latest title, Maze Wars Revisited, what with 10,000 other apps in the App Store to compete with. The piece follows Hescox’s challenges working at a number of companies through three different recessions, from Sega to Apple." Hero of Sparta in App Store "Following last week's release of Brothers in Arms: Hour of Heroes, Gameloft put out Hero of Sparta, a 3D action title in which players hack and slash their way through undead enemies and mythical creatures, like Cerberus, the three-headed dog guarding Hades." Interview With Tapulous’ Mark Johns "With the release of Tap Tap Dance, Tapulous’ Mark Johns spoke with Finger Gaming sister site Indie Games about the game's music tracks and new features. This new touch-based music game for iPhone and iPod Touch features visual themes designed by fellow indie creator cactus and Kevin Coulton and a soundtrack that includes The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, and more."
